There are some anatomy issues... The head is too big compared to the body. The body looks a little bit flat, his belly and pectorals should be more prominent.

The composition needs some work. The background is slicing the image right in half diagonally. We also need more information to draw upon our imaginations and form a story or emotion from it. Adding meaningful details in the background could help, also using a non static pose (he does look a bit stiff) could help to indicate something about what he's feeling. Technically good, but needs something more.

Is he on a boat...? pirates belong on boats... anyways I think you know wher eyou need to work on... good style and colors none the less.
